Helblaster Volley Gun is a snap to
paint, as it's composed mainly of
metallic hardware on a wooden frame.
For the most part, a steady hand will
be more helpful than intricate brush
skills. Below, you'll find a simple
step-by-step way to paint your Helblaster
Volley Gun. Although the Helstorm
Rocket Battery is not pictured here,
the same methods would apply if you
were to paint one using the steps
below. |
For easier painting, you
may not want to glue these
three pieces together just
yet.

Start by heavily
drybrushing all the wooden
areas on the gun carriage
and volley gun itself with
a coat of Scorched Brown. |

Heavily drybrush
the wooden areas once more,
but this time around use
Dark Flesh. Don't worry about
getting paint all over the
place — it can be covered
up later. |

Complete the
wooden parts of the volley
gun with a lighter drybrush
using a 1:1 mix of Scab Red
and Terracotta. |

Carefully
go over the metal bands,
wheel rims, volley gun housing,
and the like with a coat
of Boltgun Metal. Use caution
so as not any get paint on
the wooden areas you just
finished! |

Highlight
the Boltgun Metal areas of
the volley gun with thin
lines of Mithril Silver.
Paint these lines along the
hard edges of the model as
shown in the image above. |

Moving on
to the next metallic color,
carefully apply Brazen Brass
to the volley gun barrels,
griffon-shaped gun hammers,
tow rings, and crank handles. |

Go back over
the Brazen Brass areas with
a quick highlight of Dwarf
Bronze. This layer of paint
will help the brass areas
of the weapon shine a bit
more. |

The final
step is to paint the tiny
details that remain. Paint
a name for the gun onto the
machine's face plate, the
skeleton hidden within the
carriage frame, and some
Skull White details onto
the wheel spokes if you so
desire. |
